Terms of use

Last updated: 2026-05-25

This is a v1 stub. A full Terms of Use will be linked here before Sonolex is opened to clinicians beyond the founding cohort. The principles below apply now.

What Sonolex is

Sonolex is an educational / training-review tool for clinicians who perform and read their own echocardiograms. It is not a clinical decision-support system. It is not an EMR. The supervisor sign-off surfaced in Sonolex is not a substitute for an institutional read, a final clinical interpretation, or an EMR order.

Who can use it

Cardiology fellows, cardiac sonographers, intensivists, emergency clinicians, and other qualified clinicians with current scope-of-practice for the modalities they capture. Trainees are responsible for complying with institutional supervision requirements.

What you put into Sonolex

You are responsible for what you type into a case. The minimum acceptable content is de-identified echo findings — no patient names, no MRNs, no DOBs, no other Safe Harbor identifiers. The app runs a PHI sanitizer at compose time; the server runs the same sanitizer at send time. You may override low-confidence flags; every override is audit-logged.

Supervisor reviews

Reviews recorded in Sonolex are educational. A supervisor signing a case acknowledges that they reviewed the trainee's structured report. This signature is not an electronic medical-record order and is not a substitute for an institutional reading or attending EMR sign-off.

Free to clinicians

Sonolex is free for individual clinical training use. We may charge institutions for fellowship-program dashboards, ACGME case-log export, or bulk supervisor management in the future. We will never sell or share your case data.
